How to Prepare for Your Photo Mini Session

Mini sessions are a fun and efficient way to capture beautiful portraits without the time (or cost) of a full photo shoot. Whether it’s family portraits, seasonal sessions, or sports-themed shoots, a little preparation goes a long way toward making your images shine. Here are my top tips for getting ready for your mini session:

1. Plan Your Outfits in Advance

Coordinating doesn’t mean everyone has to match! Choose colors that complement each other and fit the theme. Solid colors and simple patterns photograph best. Avoid logos and busy designs that can distract from your faces.

✨ Pro tip: Lay everything out the night before to avoid last-minute stress.

2. Arrive a Few Minutes Early

Mini sessions are short and scheduled back-to-back. Arriving 10–15 minutes early ensures you have time to park, settle in, and fix any last details before your time slot starts. Being early = more relaxed smiles!

3. Keep It Simple

The best mini sessions are stress-free. Bring only what you need — maybe a hairbrush, water, or small props if you’d like. For kids, a favorite toy or small snack (nothing messy!) can help keep them happy and engaged.

4. Communicate with Your Photographer

If you have specific must-have shots or poses, let me know ahead of time! This way we can maximize the short session and ensure you get the images that matter most.

5. Relax and Have Fun

The goal of a mini session is to capture natural, genuine moments. Don’t worry too much about perfect smiles — some of the best photos come from laughter, interaction, and movement. Let kids be themselves and enjoy the process!

6. After Your Session
